Content of this course:

In order to reach our climate targets and commitments, hydrogen is considered as one of the key elements in the energy transition. DOB-Academy provides two online introduction training courses on hydrogen and the various aspects of it that are important for a successful energy transition.

During these two half-day introduction training courses, participants will learn about the various way to produce hydrogen; its distribution and storage possibilities and its impact on our energy grid. In a series of theoretical lectures, the applications for the end users are examined as well as its various possibilities.

‘The Hydrogen Value Chain’ training course will provide an overview of the Hydrogen value chain and will start with the question why hydrogen may be considered as a possible energy carrier as well as its role within the energy transition. Lectures will bring insight into the process and the consumption. The day will finish with a practical case on how to use various modes of transport to bring hydrogen onshore from an offshore platform, in which geographical layout should be taken in consideration as well.

Our other training course on hydrogen is called ‘Hydrogen End-use Application’ and  is complementary to this training course. Each training course can be taken separately, but together they give a complete overview of the market and provide a solid basis for the junior engineers working in offshore energy. And the combination of the two DOB-Online training courses are equivalent to the regular (physical) training course ‘Introduction Hydrogen’

This course has been developed in joint co-operation by Frames, Energy Delta Institute, TNO and DOB Academy.

Learning objectives:

  • Learn about the history of hydrogen and understand why it is gaining momentum
  • Understand what the role of hydrogen in the energy transition
  • Gain insight into the opportunities, potential and key competitors of hydrogen
  • Experts from industry (DNV-GL and TNO) provide inspiring lectures
  • Expand your hydrogen knowledge in just half a day

Target audience:

This course is designed for junior Engineers and those affiliated with hydrogen or renewable energy in general, but in particular the offshore energy market.

GUEST LECTURES AND TOPICS

Albert van den Noort (DNV-GL) will start off the and guide the participants through the hydrogen value chain. He will discuss the motivations for the increased focus on hydrogen and explain why it is gaining momentum. In a second lecture Albert will highlight the most promising near-term priorities and opportunities for using hydrogen and meeting this demand. After the break Jonathan Moncada Botero (TNO) will explores Hydrogen as a long term potential in terms of supply, demand, geography, trade, system integration and key players.
